Leaves From My Family Tree

Ida Trump Haddix

Ida Trump was born in Clark County, Washington on April 11, 1898.

Her parents, Emil Trump and Amelia Habermann Trump, were born in Germany in the 1860's, and came to the United States in about 1884, settling in Dane County, Wisconsin.

Her four older brothers and sisters were born in Dane County; the family moved to Clark County, Washington in 1896, where Ida and four more children were born.

Ida worked during World War I keeping house for the A. J. Smith family in Oswego, then worked for Ireland's Restaurant in Portland, where she developed the idea for their box lunches.

Ida married Archie Haddix; they had no children, though they reared two of Archie's orphaned nephews, Gene and Bob Haddix.

She died from complications of asthma in Vancouver, Washington, on November 15, 1934 at the age of 37.
